SAMSUNG TAB 2 VS APPLE IPAD 3

Samsung just added a new smaller tablet to the Galaxy Tab lineup: the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0).

The Tab 2 (7.0), in both 3G and Wi-Fi versions, isn’t just the first of Samsung’s Android-powered tablet offerings for 2012–i’s Samsung’s first Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)-powered tablet. Pricing has not yet been announced.
The “7.0″ in the name reflects its size: 7.6 inches by 4.8 inches by 0.4 inches, with a 7-inch 1024-pixel-by-600-pixel PLS TFT display. It’s powered by a 1-GHz dual-core processor and outfitted with 8, 16, or 32GB of user flash memory with 1GB of RAM and a 4,000 mAh li-ion battery. Front (VGA) and rear (3MP) cameras, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi (with Wi-Fi direct) and a GPS (on the 3G version of the product) round out features. The 3G version uses the HSPA+ network.
The main attraction here, apart from its reduced size–it’s two inches smaller than its predecessor, the Tab 8.9–is the presence of Android 4 with all of its attendant new features. Among them, mentioned in Samsung’s press release, is a function that has been the subject of a good deal of critical scrutiny: the facial-unlock feature.
The Tab 2 (7.0) also is slated to include Samsung’s Music Hub, Video Hub, Readers Hub and Game Hub applications, which give users access to broad libraries of licensed entertainment content. Most users probably will just opt for one of the existing content-syndication platforms already available through Android–Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes & Noble’s Nook, Hulu, Netflix, Spotify, and so on.
IPAD 3.

The Apple iPad is one of the best-selling tablets in the world, and the iPad 3 is one of the most anticipated devices from Apple this year. This article explains you about the new features that are to be included in the iPad 3.
In a nutshell, the Apple iPad3 will feature a new, thinner and sleeker design, down nearly 20 percent in size compared to the iPad 2. It will also support full touchscreen HD display with a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536.
Apart from that, the iPad 3 will have a lighter battery, reducing the weight of the tablet. However, the battery is reported to cost 20 to 30 percent more than the current iPad’s battery, and will also have a longer battery life.
It is also expected that the iPad 3 will have a wireless charging technology, which will be able to charge the battery and transfer data wirelessly.
A6 Processor
The current Apple iPad 2 has a 900MHz dual-core ARM Cortext-A9 processor, Apple A5 chipset and PowerVr SGX543MP2 GPU. This certainly made the Apple iPad 2 a powerful tablet and a main competitor in the world of tablets. Now Apple is aiming to make the competition tougher by sporting an A6 Quad-core Processor in the iPad 3. This would make the iPad 3 as powerful as any high-end desktop.
According to Linley Group senior analyst Kevin Krewell, “We expect the A6 will be a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 design, which would be competitive with next year’s best mobile processors. In 2012, Nvidia will offer a quad-core Cortex-A9 processor, and Qualcomm will have the aforementioned MSM8960, a dual-core A15-class processor operating at 1.7GHz. Fabricating Apple’s A6 in 28nm (instead of the 40nm process Nvidia is using for its quad-core part) will reduce both die cost and power, yielding a much better product.”
iOS 5.1/5.2
The iPad 3 will come with the latest iOS 5, which will host the multi-touch gesture technology. However, analyst and tech enthusiasts predict that Apple would introduce OS X Lion for the tablet, since it will be powered by a quad-core processor.
This will also include multitasking features, such as notifications, task-finishing, app-switching, location and background sound.
3D Feature and New Retina Display
Apple enthusiast expected the Retina Display feature on Apple iPad 2; however, Apple has been working majorly for an improved version of it to include it in the iPad 3. The iPhone 4 currently supports the Retina Display with a screen resolution of 960 x 640. Apple explains Retina Display as: “Developing pixels a mere 78 micrometers wide, Apple engineers were able to pack four times the number of pixels into the same 3.5-inch (diagonal) screen found on earlier iPhone models. The resulting pixel density of iPhone 4 – 326 pixels per inch – makes text and graphics look smooth and continuous at any size.”
With the Retina Display feature, the screen resolution of the iPad3 will be 2048 x 1536 pixels. However, it is said that the third version of the tablet is delayed due to Retina Display issues, and Apple is expected to ship the tablet in early 2012.
Cloud Computing
Apple announced its Cloud services during the WWDC 2011, and will definitely include the iCloud technology both in the iPhone 5 and iPad 3. With iCloud users can store photos, apps, calendars and access songs on iTunes without having them to store in the phone’s memory.
Camera
The iPad 3 will come with an improved camera, since the previous version of the table didn’t seem impressive enough. Unlike the iPad 2, the new tablet will come with LED flash to support the camera. It is expected to have a 5MP camera with 1080p or 720p video recording quality of 60 frames per second. The technology made by OmniVision will help reduce the size of the table by 20 percent.
Fingerprint Proof
Apple has already been granted patents on this technology, and is working real hard to make the iPad3 fingerprint proof. The touch screen will be coated with oleophobic materials, which will reduce the oil and fingerprints on the screen.@Abhe.Apple

iPad 3 Will Be Released On Next March

Well, Apple’s stock at an all time high and with a market valuation fast closing to an almost half a trillion, it seems that Apple can do no wrong. Reports have started flooding in that indicate that the launch event for the successor of Apple’s magical tablet can be held as soon as the beginning of March. We have got all the details so hit the jump to read on.

Reports suggest that the next generation of iPad, which will most probably called as the iPad 3, would have its own special event come March, which incidentally is just a few weeks away. We would not be surprised if such an event actually takes place this March, seeing as Apple’s historical release cycle data suggests that the iPad 2 was also announced on march last year and went on sale the week after.

Also this would be in tandem with the yearly life cycle and product release cycle of Apple, as they have maintained these schedules throughout their previous product releases.

Now the big question is, what would be the changes that apple brings forth for the iPad 3. And that is the question that matters the most for consumers anyway. The biggest update could possibly be to the screen and iPad 3 might rock an HD Retina Display similar to the iPhone 4S, albeit bigger and more sexy. Recent leaked iPad 3 cases and component pictures give this rumor plausibility.

While it has been rumored to sport a quad-core A6 processor, personally we think that Apple might just stick with a dual core processor this time around as they would focus more on the GPU and the graphics of the iPad 3 , which is the actual bottleneck for the iPad. Also Apple might not be easily prepared to part with their legendary 10 hours battery life for the sake of an extra two cores.

With march fast creeping up, let’s keep our fingers crossed and wait what the guys at Cupertino have cooked up for us this time.@Abhe.Apple

UNITED AIRLINES ditches flight manuals for iPads.

United Airlines said it was replacing the hefty flight manuals and chart books its pilots have long used with 11,000 iPads carrying the same data. The 0.7 kilogram iPad will take the place of about 17 kilograms of paper instructions, data and charts pilots have long used to help guide them, parent company United Continental Holdings said. The popular tablet computer will carry the Mobile FliteDeck software app from Jeppesen, a Boeing subsidiary which provides navigation tools for air, sea and land.

“The paperless flight deck represents the next generation of flying,” said Captain Fred Abbott, United’s senior vice president of flight operations.
“The introduction of iPads ensures our pilots have essential and real-time information at their fingertips at all times throughout the flight.”
It will be supplied to all pilots on United and Continental flights; the two carriers merged in 2010.
United is the second major US carrier to adopt the iPad as a key pilot flight aid.
In May Alaska Airlines also adopted it, after the Federal Aviation Administration okayed the iPad for cockpit use.
United estimates that using the iPad will save 16 million sheets of paper a year, and that the lighter load it represents will save 1.2 million litres in fuel.
“With iPad, pilots are able to quickly and efficiently access reference material without having to thumb through thousands of sheets of paper and reduce clutter on the flight deck,” the company said.
